Iran since 1962 state-run company Iran Khodro produces cars which are mostly based on old European models. The latest of them – IKCO Samand – had seen displayed at the Geneva car exhibition and is now available in Bulgaria and Russia, as well as the forthcoming planned commercial launch of Poland.
Technically, Samand is based on the from 1988. until 1996. producted middle class model of the Peugeot 405, it derives from the simpler 1.8-liter 8 valve four-cylinder engine that develops 100 horsepower accurately. It is planned to develop the gas versions, in order to be marketed in Poland, where it is particularly popular.
Equipment and technical solutions meets the eighties – the rear brake drums to occur, but the airbags or ESP is not even available for additional fee. Standard equipment is included in both the extras as a servo stearing, central lock, electric window lifts and air conditioning, but the ABS ranks in addition to the equipment list.
It should be noted that the Samand ir available in Sarir the extended version, which salon is decorated with leather and wood-finishing applications. The finishing quality of both can argue, as it lags far behind modern standards.
Without the middle class IKCO Samand the plant also produces with license other old models like the Peugeot 405 and the small 206 sedan version, which in Europe has not officially been offered. Since, except for Logan analogue, no one model is unable to meet the Euro 4 exhaust standards, the Iran produced vehicles in Western Europe as soon not be visible, while in countries where cheap price and a high degree of practicality is yours, IKCO would gain similar success as the Lada in Latvia.
