Novell and IDC recent survey results indicate that more than half of IT managers plan to use the Linux operating system. Clearly, the global economic growth rates for most companies is not good, but this encourages interest in open source software, including, also Linux.

The study authors interviewed more than 300 senior IT managers in companies in which the number of employees exceeds 100 people. Nearly 3 / 4 (72%) of respondents either to consider the possibility this year to install Linux in their corporate servers, or have already adopted such a decision. In turn, 68% intend to use the Linux operating system and computer desks.
One of the key factors that contribute to a quicker transition to Linux, an operating system is the need to reduce acquisition and maintenance costs. More than 40% of respondents plan to have the next couple of years for Linux to use the additional work, but half of survey participants predict that five years after its servers primarily used for Linux.
