On 18th of February “Ру-Центр” (www.nic.ru – the company that registers Russian internet domains) without any prior warnings and notifications disabled the Torrents.ru domain address. Nic.ru later informed that the maintenance of this internet domain was halted at the request of Prosecutors Office of the city of Moscow, which launched an investigation on 16th of February.

Torrents.ru management has reacted quickly to the situation and changed the domain address of the torrent to rutracker.org.
Torrents.ru Management reported that technically, this means that the users need to change the parameters of active torrents by replacing the torrents.ru domain replaced with the address rutracker.org or re-download the torrent files from the new tracker address.
Does this Prosecutors Office of the city of Moscow request means that Russia has launched a fight against the largest torrent trackers, as it periodically happens in other countries?
