Today we offer you a review of Samsung UltraTouch S8300 – a phone which is equipped with an AMOLED screen and a 8-megapixel camera – which still is one of the highest quality phone cameras to-date.

We instantly notified the build quality of this phone – the casing is made of a metallic material, not plastic. It is also hard to miss the large 2.8-inch AMOLED display, which is capable of displaying 16 million colors and is very bright. This quality of this display is great, and it is viewable from almost any angle.
The screen is one of the main qualities of this phone because its easy to use. Unlike most mobile phones, Samsung UltraTouch S8300 is equipped with capacitive touchscreen, which means that the screen is finger friendly because it reacts to the users finger heat rather than pressure. The touchscreen is responsive, but unfortunately this phone does not support multitouch technology. Though sometimes you have to tap the screen twice as it sometimes doesnt react to the first touch.
This phone is very thin for a slider phone with large touch screen, since the device thickness is only 12.9 millimeters, which is slightly more than other phones with touch screens, but this device also has a slide-out numeric keypad. The phone keyboard could be better because some of the buttons arent easy to push.
Despite the fact that this is not a smartphone, you can actually open Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and PDF documents. Besides this phone can open quite a large volume of PDF files simultaneously.

Since this phone has a very good screen and supports DivX video files, it can also serve as a portable video player. This phone can play even 700 MB video files without any problems. So you will feel no need to convert your DivX movies so you could play them on phone. Though the ratio of this screen is 4:3 (resolution 240 x 320 pixels), which means that most of the video will not be playbacked on full screen.
However the best quality of this phone is its 8 megapixel camera, which supports auto focus and is equipped with a LED flash.
During the testing of this phone, I came to the conclusion that with sufficient light, the quality of Samsung Ultratouch S8300 built-in camera is excellent (taking into account the fact that we are testing a mobile phone, not a digital camera), and the Samsung UltraTouch can actually beat some ot the of the cheap digital cameras. Frankly, looking at the photos taken with this phone, we were pleasantly shocked.
Of course in darker conditions it is perfectly apparent that the phone camera has compact optics and a small image sensor, but if you dont want to take your digital camera with you on a daily basis and still be able to take high quality photos, then UltraTouch Samsung S8300 is a very good choice.
But the camera also has a disatvantage – the phone is processing each picture for quite a long time.

Some other important disadvantages also include short battery life (up to four hours of talk time) and the lack of Wi-Fi support (which is at least partly compensated by HSDPA high speed mobile internet support). The built-in web browser is also a mess so we strongly recommend you to install an Opera Mini web browser.
The Samsung UltraTouch S8300 can be charged by using microUSB port. This same port also connects hands-free headset, but the standard kit also includes a converter, which allows you to connect any 3.5 milimeter headphones to the phone.
The internal memory of this celluar phone is only 80 MB, but it can be extended by using microSD memory cards (the manufacturer has included a 1 GB memory card in the package).
Finally, this phone also has a GPS navigation system support, and the GPS quality is similar to the most of the other cell phone GPS systems.
Pros:
+ The quality of the camera is outstanding
+ Exceptional quality display
+ Thin body
+ DivX support
+ microUSB connector
+ Microssoft Office and PDF file support
+ Memory card included
Cons:
- Weak battery
- Slow interface
- No Wi-Fi support
- Internal memory only 80 MB
