Acer to overtake HP as worlds biggest laptop vendor

Acer chairman JT. Wang in conference has told to investors, that company is going to overtake HP and become biggest laptop vendor. Data provided by Gartner says that in first quarter of this year Acer shipped 9.49 million laptops while Hp only 9.47 million.

Acer desktop segment is growing too – company aims to ship 10 million units this year. Also $15 million is being invested into smartphone developement, which will be based on Google Android. This will be a good challenge for HP, because they bought Palm for $1.2 billion.
